Imprint & Decoration Methods
The right decoration method makes all the difference. We offer 12 professional techniques to bring your brand to life on any product.
Screen Printing
The most popular decoration method in the promotional products industry. Ink is pushed through a mesh stencil onto the product surface, one color at a time. The result is a vibrant, durable print that holds up wash after wash.
Screen printing is ideal for large runs and simple, bold designs. Each color requires a separate screen, so it works best with 1-4 spot colors. Setup fees apply per color, but per-unit cost drops significantly at higher quantities.
Best For
T-shirts, tote bags, polos, sweatshirts, jerseys, aprons, towels, and other fabric products with solid-color logos.
Embroidery
Your logo is digitized and stitched directly into the fabric using industrial embroidery machines. The result is a textured, premium look that conveys quality and professionalism. Embroidery is the gold standard for corporate apparel.
Stitch count determines pricing — simpler logos cost less. Thread colors are matched to your brand's Pantone colors. A one-time digitizing fee converts your artwork into a stitch file that we keep on file for future orders.
Best For
Polos, hats, jackets, bags, backpacks, blankets, and any woven or knit fabric. The go-to method for corporate uniforms and executive gifts.
Direct to Garment (DTG)
Think of DTG as an inkjet printer for fabric. Your design is sprayed directly onto the garment in full color, making it perfect for photo-realistic images, gradients, and complex artwork that screen printing can't handle.
DTG shines for small quantities — there are no screens to set up, so the per-unit cost stays flat whether you order 1 or 50. The print is soft to the touch and becomes part of the fabric rather than sitting on top.
Best For
T-shirts, hoodies, and cotton apparel. Ideal for photo-quality prints, complex multi-color designs, and short runs (1-50 pieces).
Heat Transfer
A design is printed or cut on a special transfer paper or vinyl, then applied to the product using heat and pressure. Heat transfers produce crisp, full-color results and work on materials where direct printing isn't possible.
This method is versatile — it handles everything from individual names and numbers on jerseys to full-color photographic prints. Vinyl transfers are extremely durable and great for performance wear.
Best For
Jerseys, performance wear, nylon bags, polyester apparel, and products that need individual personalization (names, numbers, titles).
Sublimation
Dye sublimation uses heat to turn ink into a gas that bonds with polyester fibers or polymer-coated surfaces. The dye becomes part of the material — it won't peel, crack, or fade. The result is vibrant, edge-to-edge, full-color printing.
Sublimation is the only method that can print all-over (seam to seam) on apparel, and it's the standard for drinkware like tumblers and mugs. The catch: it only works on white or light-colored polyester and coated hard goods.
Best For
Tumblers, mugs, mousepads, polyester jerseys, all-over print apparel, phone cases, and coated ceramic or metal items.
Laser Engraving
A focused laser beam removes or vaporizes material from the product surface, creating a permanent mark. The engraved area typically reveals the underlying material color, creating a subtle, high-end contrast.
Laser engraving is the most permanent decoration method — it will never peel, fade, or wash off. It's precise enough for fine detail and small text. One color only (the material's natural contrast), but the premium look speaks for itself.
Best For
Metal drinkware, pens, awards, trophies, plaques, USB drives, keychains, leather goods, and wood products.
Pad Printing
A silicone pad picks up ink from an etched plate and transfers it onto the product — like a flexible rubber stamp. The soft pad conforms to curved, recessed, and irregular surfaces that other methods can't reach.
Pad printing is the workhorse of the promotional products industry. It's how most pens, bottles, stress balls, and small giveaway items get branded. Excellent detail and color consistency across large production runs.
Best For
Pens, bottles, stress balls, golf balls, USB drives, tech accessories, and any small promotional item with a curved or uneven surface.
Digital Print (UV)
UV-cured digital printing jets ink directly onto hard surfaces and cures it instantly with ultraviolet light. The result is a full-color, highly durable print on materials like plastic, metal, glass, and wood.
UV printing brings the convenience of digital (no screens, no plates) to hard goods. Full-color photos and gradients print beautifully, and the UV-cured ink is scratch-resistant. Great for promotional items and signage alike.
Best For
Power banks, phone cases, USB drives, promotional signage, coasters, packaging, and any flat or slightly curved hard surface needing full-color printing.
Deboss
A custom metal die is pressed into the material under heat and pressure, creating a permanent indented impression of your logo. The result is a clean, understated mark with a tactile quality you can feel.
Debossing is the classic choice for leather goods, journals, and portfolios. It's single-color by nature (no ink involved), relying on shadow and depth for visibility. The effect is subtle, sophisticated, and unmistakably premium.
Best For
Leather journals, portfolios, padfolios, business card holders, coasters, napkins, and high-end corporate gifts.
Emboss
The opposite of debossing — a die pushes the material upward to create a raised, 3D impression of your logo. Embossing adds dimension and texture that catches both light and attention.
Like debossing, embossing uses no ink and relies on the raised surface for visibility. It's commonly paired with foil stamping for an even more striking effect. The die is a one-time investment that we keep on file.
Best For
Stationery, letterhead, business cards, leather goods, packaging, invitations, and premium presentation folders.
Foil Stamping
A heated die presses metallic foil onto the product surface, leaving a shiny, reflective imprint. Available in gold, silver, copper, and other metallic finishes, foil stamping creates an unmistakable sense of luxury.
Foil stamping is often combined with debossing or embossing for a multi-dimensional effect. It's the finish you see on premium business cards, invitations, and high-end packaging. Up to 2 foil colors per design.
Best For
Business cards, packaging, journals, napkins, ribbons, certificates, invitations, and any product where a metallic shine elevates the brand.
Etching
Chemical etching or sandblast etching removes material from glass, crystal, or metal surfaces to create a frosted, permanent design. The etched area contrasts beautifully against the polished surface.
Etching is the standard for awards, trophies, and recognition pieces. It's also used on stainless steel drinkware and barware. The result is elegant, permanent, and impossible to remove — your brand becomes part of the product.
Best For
Glass awards, crystal trophies, wine glasses, beer steins, stainless steel drinkware, decanters, and recognition plaques.
